华南地区第一所国际学校——广州美国人国际学校(AISG)于10月24日举行科学城校区升级改造项目的动工仪式。这是AISG建校38年以来规模最大的项目之一,并将助力粤港澳大湾区发展腾飞。
On October 24, 2019, the American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) hosted a ground-breaking ceremony on its Science Park campus.The Master Facilities Plan project is one of the largest project in AISG’s 38-year history and is expected to play a valuable role in contributing to the region’s Greater Bay Area Development project.

AISG新任校长Kevin Baker,美国驻广州领事馆总领事李靖(Jim Levy)先生,以及广州市教育局华山鹰副局长在动工仪式上致辞。各国驻穗领事馆代表、广州市外办和黄埔区教育局等领导出席了庆典。
The ground breaking ceremony included a special student performance and remarks from AISG’s new Director, Mr. Kevin Baker. U.S. Consul General Jim Levy and Deputy Director General of Guangzhou Education Bureau, Mr. Hua Shanying also delivered speeches during the event. Representatives from foreign consulates, Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office and Huangpu Education Bureau also joined the celebration.

AISG科学城校区依山而建,占地30000平方米,此项目计划在现有的空间及设施上扩容,新增一条室内跑道、三个运动场、一个网球场、一个25米泳池、屋顶操场及地下停车场等。该项目落成之时,将在现有设施的基础上,创造出全新灵活的现代化教学空间,建成新图书馆和餐厅等设施。
AISG’s Science Park campus currently sites on a hillside site area of almost 30,000 sqm, allowing for an expansion of the school’s current recreational amenities to include an indoor running track, three sports fields, a tennis court, a 25m pool plus rooftop play space. In addition, a designated underground parking area with vehicle charging points will be built within the site for parents, guests and school events.

新校园设计的亮点之一是互联互通,校园网络全面覆盖。
Connectivity will also form an integral part of the new campus design.

校长Kevin Bake在致辞中称,AISG的新校园将成为激励学生、教职员工追求卓越的乐土,成为培育动态、仁爱、互联式、创新未来式学习的家园。他说:“AISG开启校园总体规划的初衷既简单又重要,即为学生打造创新式未来教育设施,培养学生面向未来的学习技能及特质。”
According to AISG’s Director, Kevin Bake, AISG’s new campuses will form a place that inspires students, teachers, and staff to be their best —a hub of dynamic, compassionate, and connected learning where future-ready learning reigns supreme. He says: “AISG embarked on the master planning process with one simple overarching concept in mind: to create learning spaces that would facilitate nurturing future-ready skills and dispositions in students.”

学校与国际建筑设计公司Perkins and Will合作,打造校园新面貌。Perkins and Will多年来一直位列世界建筑设计前列,专注于创新型教育建筑设计。
The school has partnered with global architecture and design firm, Perkins and Will, to help develop its new school environment. Perkins and Will are consistently ranked as one of the world’s leading design practices in the design of innovative educational spaces.

Perkins and Will设计总监Paul Rice曾表示,将坚持Perkins and Will的创新性、合作性、可持续性设计理念,围绕“提升学生的主观能动性” 这一设施设计目的,设计核心会凸现跨学科、个性化、实践性的学习方式。
Perkins and Will’s Design Principal, Paul Rice noted “the AISG Science Park campus project is a transformation of the existing facility that aims to retain much of the existing building but re-orientate both the internal and external spaces to allow for contemporary approaches to education. Perkins and Will’s own design philosophy of innovation, collaboration and sustainability are cornerstones of this unique design.”

Kevin Baker校长认为,“灵活的学习空间将让老师成为学生学习活动的组织者和推动者。” 他说:“让学生做学习的主人不仅意味着让学生选择学什么,还要让他们了解怎么学、为什么学。重新进行校园设计的目的就是提升学生的责任感和积极性。这与以教师为主导地位的传统式、说教式教学截然不同。传统式教学模式已不能满足我们的学生。AISG新校园的现代化空间将让学生能够随时随地进行自主学习及小组学习。”
AISG’s Director, Kevin Baker, notes “Flexible spaces will enable an environment where the teacher becomes an orchestrator and facilitator for student learning.” He said “Student-centerd learning means learners choose not only what to study but also how and why. At the heart of our new campus redesign are learner responsibility and activity. This is in contrast to more traditional models of education which sees the emphasis on instructor control in conventional, didactic teaching. We want more than this for our students. AISG’s new and modern spaces will allow students to engage in self-directed and group learning in many areas of the campus at any time.”

校园的可持续性特色设计包括:主要空间实现自然通风、设计遮盖式人行步道、收集雨水径流、建筑外墙体现光影变化、当地采购自然材料用作室内和外墙装饰。安装太阳能热水器,使用太阳能电池板发电,环保型灌溉系统等设计充分体现环保的理念。
Sustainable design features include natural ventilation of key spaces, covered pedestrian walkways and collection of rainwater run-off with extensive shading of glazed façades. Natural and locally-sourced materials dominate the selection of internal and façade materials. 

目前,校园改造项目工程开始启动,预计于2022学年完工。科学城校区建设完成后,将于2021至2023学年进行二沙岛校区内部改造。
Construction is already underway with construction set to continue until SY2022. Following the completion of the Science Park campus rebuild, internal renovations at Er Sha Campus will then take place from SY2021-2023.

Kevin Baker says, “We intend to integrate tools and platforms into all spaces to provide ubiquitous network access to make education at AISG salient today and robust enough for tomorrow.”
