暗中想WE来 - 能源课堂

In its commitment to environmental conservation, The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou once again participated in Earth Hour, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017. In accordance with the “Blue WE” theme in China this year, The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou worked together with the Guangdong Museum to present “Stories in the Darkness,” a class on energy conservation which took guests on a meaningful journey with lights out for an hour, as well as engaged children on the importance of environmental conservation with a Ritz Kids activity. Meanwhile, all the Ladies and Gentlemen continue to fulfill the purpose of The Ritz-Carlton Community Footprints program, together with environmental organizations around the world, using practical action to call for an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

In the 60 minutes of Earth Hour, the children with their parents enjoyed a Ritz Kids “Night Safari” which moved to the Carlton Room from the guestroom. The tutors from the Guangdong Museum hid colorful ores in tents and encouraged the children to search for them. Then the tutors explained the origin of ores and played fun games with the families. In addition, the children were taught how to generate electricity using fruits. In this valuable parent-child time, the young generation gained a deeper understanding of the meaning of environmental protection and the importance of energy. At the same time, their imagination and creativity were also stimulated.

The hotel also dimmed and turned off non-essential lighting on the building exterior and public areas from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. Meanwhile, all restaurants offered “green” menus designed around responsibly sourced organic ingredients served fresh or minimally cooked. The Churchill Bar’s live band prepared a special “unplugged” set to serenade guests, while the main lighting was switched off and a special themed cocktail was served. The Fitness Center offered complimentary “yoga sessions by candlelight” to in-house guests during Earth Hour.

The Ladies and Gentlemen started their environmental protection activities in the morning with a “health run” at Huacheng Square. The hotel also encourages them to use public transportation, staircases instead of elevators, and also to take on the “10,000 Steps Challenge” by walking more than 10,000 steps every day. Everyone can share a screenshot of their route or walk in their WeChat moment. This challenge aims to spread awareness and actively promote low-carbon travel. In addition, eco-friendly menus were also available at the staff restaurant, promoting a low-carbon diet.

“It has been 10 years since Earth Hour was initiated in 2007, and we are honored to have been continuously involved for many years and committed to the cause of environmental protection. This year, we are enriching the content of the activities, and hoping that through these memorable and meaningful activities, we can spread awareness of environmental protection, promote a low-carbon lifestyle and influence more people to take practical action beyond one hour,” said Mr. Vogt, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou.
“今年是“地球一小时”发起以来的第十年,我们很荣幸连续多年以来一直参与其中,并致力投身于环保事业。今年我们更加丰富了活动的内容,希望通过这些难忘又有意义的活动提高大家的环保意识、倡导低碳生活,号召和影响更多人以实际行动超越一小时” 广州富力丽思卡尔顿酒店总经理傅戈先生说道。
